Outline of the profession

With a degree in Mechanical Design and Engineering from a university of applied sciences you will be active in one of the following areas, according to your interests and preferences:

– Planning, concept generation and design of machines, apparatus and processes
– Realisation and interpretation of measurements and of experiments
– Simulation of stress and strain, of motions and of processes
– Production and manufacture of machines and parts
– Putting into operation, operation and maintenance of machines and plant
– Sales and training

On graduation you will in many cases be employed as a project leader.

You should possess the following qualities:

– You enjoy working in teams
– You are sociable
– You like to take on responsibility
– You remain persistent when the best possible solutions to complex technical problems need to be found

Modularisation
As of the winter semester 2003-2004, ZHW degree programmes will be modularised. New students will earn their university of applied sciences diplomas in accordance with the examination regulations on modularised studies.
