Job outline

The Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences Winterthur (ZHW) opens the door to a wide range of professional activities. Typical fields of activity for an electrical engineer are:

– Planning and developing devices, plants and systems
– Simulation of circuits and processes
– Commissioning, operation and maintenance of devices, plants and systems
– Consultancy activities in industrial and service firms
– Sales and training

Electrical engineers often work as project leaders. In this position, they have contact with many partners: clients, employees, supervisors, specialists. This means taking responsibility for technology, costs, deadlines and environmental questions. The business success of projects relies on good team work, communication skills and perseverance. In addition, the ability to learn quickly about new areas of technology is often required. Electrical engineers seek the challenge of achieving the best possible technical solutions, whatever the task.

As of the winter semester 2003-2004, ZHW degree programmes will be modularised. New students will earn their university of applied sciences diplomas in accordance with the examination regulations on modularised studies.
