| Data Analysis and Process Design
What is Data Analysis and Process Design (DP)?
The Degree Programme in Data Analysis and Process Design is a new
and innovative course of study which is unique in Switzerland.
The name Data Analysis and Process Design refers to the two core
competences which are acquired in this degree programme:
Data analysis is the art of detecting hidden connections and predictable
behaviour through data.
For example: Can one find out from a company’s key figures whether
it is on the verge of bankruptcy? Does medicine A have a demonstrable
effect? Do city-dwellers eat more cheese than country-dwellers?
Process design is the art of understanding and improving processes
and complicated systems using mathematical and physical tools.
For example: How should a factory be planned to optimise production?
What causes the delays at Zurich Airport and how can they be prevented?
What is the best design for buffers for goods trains, so that freight
does not become jumbled during shunting?
